Mark Nykorchuck, Director of Grounds
|Mark Nykorchuck- Director of Grounds|
Mark Nykorchuck has known golf all his life. With his father serving as president of Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield MA, Mark grew up in the business. He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice but realized that he preferred outdoors over outlaws. That led him to the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, on the University of Massachusetts’ Pittsfield campus, where he earned a second associate’s degree, this time in landscape contracting. From there it was a natural progression to a degree in Turf Science, bringing him back to the golf course.
Mark’stalent and success have placed him in high demand, taking him to prestigious golf clubs from Massachusetts to Florida. He started his career in the Berkshires, then moved in 1994 to Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, SC, where he was an irrigation foreman. He came to the TPC Club in Prestancia (Sarasota) in 1996, then went back to Kiawah Island in SC, working as assistant superintendent at the River Course.
He came back to Florida in 1998, to the Isleworth Country Club in Orlando. A promotion to superintendent took him to the Hawks Landing Golf Club at the Orlando World Center Marriott in 2000. In 2002, Mark took on responsibility for the grow-in at the Greg Norman-designed course at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Golf Club. He met the goal easily and joined The Founders Golf Club in April 2004, where he accomplished a successful grow-in in less than a year, despite four hurricanes and 60 inches of rain between the time of his arrival and the Golf Club’s grand opening on February 4, 2005. Mark can be reached directly at 941-238-7751.
